The Knights Templar Prayer Coin is 1.5 inches in diameter.

Although the Knights Templar were a force to be reckoned with during medieval times, they were still men who needed encouragement.

The Knights Templar of today do not fight a physical war as it was during the Crusades, but a spiritual war. Today more than ever, modern day Templars need encouragement during the spiritual battles they face. This coin will remind the modern day prayer warriors that God is with them!

The front of the coin, in either gold or silver plating, bears the words in a ring of black, “Knights Templar” at the top, and "SIGILLUM MILITUM XPISTI" at the bottom . At the center of the front of the coin is a Red Cross pattée with crossed swords on a white background, to represent the mantle Knights wear. In the black ring are two shields with a red cross.

The back of the coin, in either gold or silver plating, bears the words in a ring of black,“Nōn nōbīs, Domine, nōn nōbīs, sed nōminī tuō dā glōriam” the Latin text from the Vulgate translation of the Book of Psalms, Psalm 113:9. The top bears a gold cross. In the white field, is the inscription of the Bible verse from Psalm 144:1-2. Below the verse is the seal of the Knights Templar.

ARMOR OF GOD CHALLENGE COIN

This challenge coin reminds us of the  the significance of putting in the whole armor of God and to pray.

EPHESIANS 6: 13-18 (NKJV) states, "Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—"

The front of the coin features a 3D image of a Roman warrior wearing a suit of armor. The inscription tells us to "Put on the whole armor of God", and reminds us to "Pray always."

The back of the coin shows the six individual pieces of armout and their descriptions as given by Paul.

Within center of the pieces of armor is the scripture referencing Ephesians 6:11-18.
The coin is made in bold enamel colors and comes protected in a acrylic capsule.

ABOUT THE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR

In 1118, Hugues de Payens, a French knight, and eight other knights banded together to protect and escort pilgrims traveling from Western Europe to the Holy Land of Jerusalem. In 1119, King Baldwin II of Jerusalem granted these nine knights permission to live in the Temple of Solomon. The founding group of knights lived in the Temple of Solomon, from where they got their name - the Order of the Knights of Solomon’s Temple. The knights of the Order became known as the Poor Knights of Christ of the Temple of Solomon or simply the Knights of the Temple. Later, they became known as the Knights Templar. In 1129, the Catholic Church officially endorsed the Knights Templar at the Council of Troyes. During the rise of the Knights Templar, they became a wealthy and powerful Order. The Knights Templar were also known to be fierce warriors. After false accusations, trials, and executions of the Knights Templar, Pope Clement V, dissolved the Order of the Knights Templar in 1312 under pressure from King Phillip IV of France, and the surviving Templars were absorbed into other Orders. It was later discovered that Pope Clement V had absolved the Knights Templar of all heresies before the disbanding of the Order.

One can read about the absolution of the Knight Templar in the Chinon Parchment (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinon_Parchment).

The Knights Templar still exist today, but unlike the medieval knights who fought a physical battle, the Knights Templar of today fight a spiritual battle, and continue their work through benevolent, educational, and humanitarian endeavors.

The year 2018 marks the 900th anniversary of the Knights Templar.

To commemorate this event, we designed a limited edition challenge coin.
